Education

I attended Central Missouri State University, graduating in May 1995 with a BSE: Special Education. I continued on at CMSU and completed my MSE: Special Education/Learning Disabilities in December 2000.

Experience

After graduating from CMSU in 1995, I taught at LaMonte High School (Missouri) for two years gaining much information from a fantastic mentor teacher. I accepted my current position as middle school resource teacher beginning the 1997-1998 school year. I am as excited about starting my 16th year in the Knob Noster district as I was in 1997. Each year brings interesting students and unique situations to the classroom.

Bio

I was born in Inglewood and raised in Torrance, California.  I graduated from South Torrance High School a long, long time ago. My high school sweetheart (still my sweetheart after 40 years of marriage) and I married soon after graduation, moved around the world with the Air Force for 23 years, and finally settled in Knob Noster, Missouri, late in 1983 (thanks to an Air Force transfer). We raised our son and two daughters in Knob Noster, and all three graduated from Knob Noster High School. I completed two college degrees after my children were in school and began my teaching career when my husband retired from the Air Force. I have been a special education teacher at Knob Noster Middle School since 1997.

Outside of my classroom, I enjoy cooking and baking for my family, reading non-fiction crime stories, puttering with my summer flowers, shopping at thrift stores for uncovered treasures, and spending time, money, and energy on my family and two dogs.

Two interesting facts about me are: 1) Growing up in California, I owned and showed Quarter Horses in AQHA horse shows and in west coast invitational parades for many years; and 2) My wonderful mother has lived with my husband and me for the past six years. I know what you may be thinking, but if you had the mother I have been blessed with, you would be begging to have her live with you, too. I hope she enjoys many more years of happiness in our home.
